A would-be groom who triggered a bomb scare at his own wedding when he forgot to book the venue. Messed up a previous attempt to marry his girlfriend, Amy Wiliams’ family were so worried it could happen a second time they even checked the proposed venue and found Neil McCardle had not made a booking. Yet Amy still refused to believe them and arrived in her wedding dress as police swarmed around St George’s Hall, Liverpool.
A relative said: “A year ago, Neil promised her a wedding which didn’t pan out, so we were cautious." But Amy just would not listen to us. When the whole wedding party arrived at St George’s Hall, it was chaos, it was really upsetting for Amy, but also other couples who were tying the knot probably had their day ruined as well.” The court heard he told the receptionist: “There’s a bomb in St George’s Hall and it will go off in 45 minutes”, before putting the phone down.McCardle, 36, of Kirkby, Merseyside, faces jail when he was sentenced later this month for the hoax call.He confirmed last night that he and Amy were still in a relationship.
