I believe a lot in
asking questions, the one who ask questions will never get lost. If you’re
tired of doing the same thing so you can get a different result, then you must
ask the RIGHT questions.
If you’re asking
yourself or have ever asked yourself questions like;
*how long are my
going to continue with this 9-5 job routine?
*What’s that added
value I can create?
* is this all
about my life? anything else? anything more?
Then this note is
for you.
Upon my April 29th Instagram post where I mentioned three things not to
take lightly in life (Purpose, Mission and Destination), the latter two seems
pretty much understandable and easy but the first one however is bleak and
open-ended a friend said, and this has led me to pen my thoughts about PURPOSE.
What’s my purpose?
Where can I find
purpose?
{Rom
12:3 (Christian Standard Bible) For by the grace given to me, I tell everyone
among you not to think of himself more highly than he should think. Instead,
think sensibly, as God has distributed a measure of faith to each one.}
From this
scripture I’ll like to think God has dealt to every man a measure of something
beyond just faith, a substance that can create and add to the beauty of life.
Remember we were made in His image and likeness. If God is a creator, we are
also creators but in different fields of life.
So, what then is
my Purpose?
Purpose is innate,
it is that which one is born with, to create, add, improve, or impact life. It
has no age limit, but it could be limited by age and time depending on the
nature of your purpose. At age 30 Jesus was done with his purpose. Whereas if
your purpose is something that requires physical strength you can barely do much
at age 75, so the earlier one discovers his/her purpose the better. Purpose
simply put is the reason for your existence. Sadly, many left without knowing
or living their purpose, this won’t be you in Jesus name.
Where Do I find
Purpose?
God always place a
man of purpose around things, people, ideas that are linked to that purpose.
While you are living your life with joy and gladness serving the Lord, He’ll
place you right into it and you will by yourself see how some persons,
experiences and everything around your life has helped to prepare you for that
purpose. You need not struggle hard or try so hard, just enjoy doing what you
are currently doing, trusting and serving the Lord. All of David’s experience
with the sheep, lion and the bear were preparing him for the battle with
Goliath, while he was alone joyfully playing his instrument to God, God was
preparing him; to introduce him to the palace that will eventually become his
own but by first going in as a music boy for the current King. You must be
humble to your purpose, don’t rush the process.
- John the Baptist was essential to Jesus destiny but see he wasn’t far away, he was his own relative, the son of his aunt. This brings me to say your purpose does not necessarily mean you will stand out and be a super star and all that. Your purpose might just be attached to someone’s purpose. To help someone or a group win. To help another’s vision come to life. Your purpose might just be a helper and you will feel a sense of satisfaction and joy when that dream comes alive, like it was solely yours. John the Baptist's Purpose was to prepare and make straight the way of the Lord and baptize him. Aaron also was to stand by and help Moses.
While young Moses
was preparing to enjoy his life as a prince, his purpose was staring at him in
the face, just around him every day, carrying construction materials. Stop
looking far away and what others are doing, your purpose is near you. Yes, it COULD
be link to your natural God giving talent, gifts or acquired skills. Purpose
could be linked to your passion both love and hate passion. Ah han! hate passion.
You can passionately hate teenage pregnancy because most young girls in your area
seem to be expectant. From that hate you can arise that purpose to stop this
act decaying our society by sensitizing teenage girls starting from your
community and you would have saved many from teenage pregnancy. Its also
possible you had a baby at a young age, from your experience you can also help
teen moms have a life after a baby, that’s your purpose. The Hate of Abuse,
Political Injustice, Cultism and Gangs etc can lead one to their purpose.
Can God reveal it
to me directly?
Yes! He did reveal
to Mary, He did to David, he sent Samuel to anoint him while he was still a Shepheard
boy. YES! God can reveal it through visions, dreams or through his servants to
you.
Note that
sometimes you might get no recognition, commendation, award, or accolade for
living your purpose but the deep satisfaction you’ll get knowing that if you depart from this world, you lived and changed lives, will be enough than any recognition.
More so your purpose can bring recognition or awards if it has to do with creation,
inventions etc. depending on the nature of that purpose. Like Thomas Edision,
Wright brothers, Johann Gutenberg, Musicians, Artisite etc. No one purpose is more important than
the other, everyone and his purpose as it pertains to a man and the measure God
has given to him to reproduce back.
The measure of
faith you receive comes handy to exercising and trusting God with your purpose.
Whatever task you are given, do it well, it may just be tied to your purpose and
never stop trusting on God’s word. {Prov
3:5-6 (NIV) Trust in the Lord with all your
heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and
he will make your paths straight.}
