From the moment I saw you and held you in my hands
That moment
I came face to face with another dimension of Love.
It was nothing like I have felt before
It's not like the love between a man and a woman
It can be more likened to the love that flows from God to man
Yes for the first time I really got to understand that kind of Love As I mingled with you, I learnt to appreciate and love God more.
Now I can imagine how God felt when he first made man
His delight as man took his first step and explored his environment (just like how delighted I was when you took your first step)
The proud look on His face and joy to see man take initiative
To name the animals and have Dominion (the joy of seeing you learning new things and do things on your own)
How God watched Adam relate with another human for the first time (the joy I felt seeing you interact with other kids)
This kind of Love is more of a "Give -Give Love"
Until man grows into maturity to learn to give back.
God gives man life, existence, provisions, protection, a mind, choice, nuture, nature etc.
Until man starts learning to give back Attention, worship, praise , adoration and obedience to His instructions (which is really to his own benefit)
In similar ways, parents give time, attention, nuture, love, give up sleep, give values, give money, clothing, shelter, education, livelihood etc.
Until the child gives back her first smile, proper development, good character, respect, good grades, good choices etc. ,
At this stage even God and the parents are pleased to know that all that was given was not in vain.
This is indeed the greatest kind of love Giving and Giving more and expecting little or nothing.
It's never easy taking care of a child especially a newborn for the very first time. One will have to give up sleep, give up favorite shows, give up hang-out time/dates with friends or your spouse, give up "me time" rock them to sleep until your back hurts, but the Joy of seeing that child grow and develop into a fine, well cultured human outweighs any initial stress. The driving force here, it's nothing but Pure Love. 💖
