SLASH THE WEDDING COST

By Royal David

I want to believe that prior to your wedding planning activities, you have prepared a weddind budget. Click HERE to see previous note on wedding budget. You must discipline yourselves to stick to the budget, else you'll notice that your expenses is on the increase as the wedding aproaches.

If you're planning a small scale wedding, nothing too excess or lavish, you're going to have to slash some of these expenses as they come. Here are a few things you can slash out of the list....

1. YOUR ATTIRE
If you can't afford the 70k - 120k wedding dresss or tuxedo, simply Rent!. Most of those fabulous attires you see couples wear during their weddings are rented. Yes they are and they go for as low as 14k-20k, just the way you didn't know they rented them, they too wouldn't know you rented yours *wink*

2. THE CAR
Instead of renting a limo or an expensive car. Kindly borrow that nice SUV or Spot car from your neighbour, relatives, close friends, church member etc. Now your minding is picking those people in your life, that own a good car, right?. Lol...yes that's the idea! mark them and approach them.

3. RECEPTION VENUE
This is one thing that always raises the cost in our budget. Instead of the usual event centres you may want to consider other options like; A restaurant hall which may be less expensive, A church hall (which you can get at a cheap rate esp. if you are a member) City gardens, secondary school fields or halls etc

4. CAKE
Make a simply two or three-tier of cake instead of four or multiple, to slash down the cost. Instead of paying for another cake that will be shared for your guest, have one of your cake shared.

5. DECORATION AND FLOWERS
a. Instead of fresh flower bouquet use organzer fabric or plastic flowers to make your bouquet. Also if your bride's maid must carry flowers, let them have a single stem flower than a full bouquet.

b. Use fine george fabric for your table covers instead of spandex. Use a stage/platform with well decorated backdrop instead of a gazebo.

c. Use ribbons instead of rose petals.

d. If your church is already decorated, aviod doing anything more. But if you can influence the decoration for that month to be in your wedding colour, Fine!

6. FINALLY
Do not buy stuff you do not need, Get fewer media guys for your photography or videography. Make your own favors and buy in bulk. Also use bulk sms for invitation instead of your normal sms which is 4 naira less expensive. Concentrate more on online invitation than producing so many IV cards.

You definitely need a wedding planner/event managers to guide you on these and more

READY BUT STILL WAITING

I have something to say, hmmmmmmm, I have something to say.... Listen! Listen pay full attention for I have something to say...... Ehennnnnn so let me land. When I dropped my first note this year " Same wish-list as every year" it was focused on the unmarried young lady and this led me straight to my next thoughts which i'm about to share with you. You know I always like to look at the flip side of every story, so my focus is undoubtedly focused on the unmarried brothers. When I write I draw my inspiration/findings from real life everyday  people and experiences that everyone can relate with, it doesn't necessarily have to be about me but I clearly like to state my opinion on life issues as I see or perceive them. *wink* Now  Prince charming got it all working for him, a good family, a great job, a nice apartment, may or may not have a car, perfect gentle man, ladies man, and goes to church at le ast every sunday. He's mature and respectful, he's always
